Our Story

While The Clownery officially launched in 2025, the passion and inspiration behind it have been over a decade in the making. Our fascination with clownfish began more than 13 years ago, sparked—like many others—by the beloved film Finding Nemo. That childhood wonder soon evolved into a deeper curiosity, and our journey truly began with a pair of True Percula clownfish.

Their consistent spawning cycles piqued our interest in learning how to raise the fry, and after some trial, error, and a bit of beginner’s luck, we experienced our first taste of success—along with many lessons learned through failure. Life moved on: school, college, and the usual milestones. But the ocean called us back. A few years later, the urge to set up a reef tank returned, and with it, the search for the perfect pair of clownfish.

What we found was a rapidly evolving world of designer clowns—so many new varieties had emerged in just a few short years. That search quickly reignited our passion. Hours turned into days of watching breeding videos, reading guides, and soaking in everything we could about clownfish care and husbandry.

Soon after, we purchased a breeding pair… then another… and another. What began as a hobby transformed into a full-fledged breeding system with 16 pairs of clownfish. It was a labor of love—and it still is.

Today, we’ve turned that love into a growing aquaculture business, focused on producing healthy, vibrant clownfish that are tank-raised and responsibly bred. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hobbyist, we’re proud to share our passion with you.
